Cork International Film Festival Programme

Saturday March 14th, 4.45pm, Regal Cinema

Cork International Film Festival, Ireland’s first and largest film festival, has selected a curated programme of shorts from its 2019 programme. CFF will also present an award to a film from the First Cut! Open Call.

“It’s our great pleasure to return to Youghal to present this programme of films from last November’s Cork Film Festival. We believe we have assembled a selection of films that have plenty to offer the First Cut! audience. Live action, documentary, animation and experimental work feature across this programme. Streets of Fury is an inventive and award-winning animation that will appeal to fans of retro video games. Despite their very different subjects, Lovestruck and Chestnuts echo each other in unexpected ways beyond their quirky and slightly surreal take on recognisable experiences. Recommended Rapper shows that humour has a part to play in documentary filmmaking, while Postcard from a Crisis shows the importance of humour in the most devastating of circumstances. Providing an alternative to conventional narrative storytelling and taking a poetic approach to its subject is Hasta la Vista.” – Don O’Mahony, Senior Programmer, Cork International Film Festival
